BE Drinks are a Frome based juice brand with three unshakeable principles; to be healthy, be fair and to be yourself. They approached me looking to have new label designs for their juice drink range, and wanted a local designer to develop their new identity with.
The Aim
The team believed that their pre-existing bottles were too busy whilst struggling to stand out against competitors too. The different flavours were represented by individual colours and personalities, such as; refreshing, smooth and vibrant.
We made the decision to remove these from the branding as they weren’t adding great value, whilst also being the cause for potential confusion. The aim was to design labelling that was more to the point, easy to read and aesthetically pleasing.
Four Flavours
The BE Juice Drinks range was reduced from six flavours to four, focusing on the most popular. We worked together to develop designs that were a refreshing update, but still held the key content and look for brand consistency. Only a couple of seconds are needed for consumers to pick their drink from the shelf, so eye-catching patterns were created and used as backgrounds – adding more character to the flavours in comparison to the previous beige, without the need for personalities.
Fruity Punch
The result, labels that are stronger assets within the BE Drinks brand – holding a vibrant presence on the shelf. The flavour patterns work to instantly identify flavours, with a bolder look that helps the bottles hold their own against competitors. Illustrations can also work to create supporting materials, such as adverts and marketing assets – example below.
