Crest & Identity Design
“In January 2019 we set Kane the task of modernising our club appearance with a new crest and identity. He was able to create a new direction that the club can fully get behind and we're now recognised as one of the leading non-league clubs off the field – Kane's completed a fantastic project that finds the perfect balance.”
— Scott, Frome Town FC
Having worked together in the 2018-19 season to develop marketing materials, it was fantastic to partner with Frome Town FC again to develop their team crest. Our primary aim was to create a design that modernised the club appearance; being more versatile and eligible across a number of platforms, and appealing to audiences of all ages.
Simplifying the Design
When reviewing the current club crest, we agreed that the design was too detailed and didn’t display well on colour and image backgrounds with digital files no longer accessible. Our visual objective was for a modern approach with a simplified colour scheme, improved eligibility and reducing two robins to one.
Taking Shape
Featuring only one robin, I used a circle as the foundation of the design – keeping a balanced appearance. To create a slightly more athletic approach to the robin’s naturally relaxed figure, I sharpened the feathers and broke the circular border – giving the robin more stance.
On & Off the Pitch
With first team kits, match day programmes and merchandise now printed – it’s fantastic to see the new Frome Town FC crest begin to grow. The marketing team now work to continually develop FTFC’s new identity. Clothing sold online and through the club also features a reduced logo with only the robin. This allows fans to wear FTFC clothing for casual occasions, as well as supporting the Robins on match day.
